Kiss Her
by
Jonathan Lim
There is no consolation in being stuck this way,
caught between feeling and not knowing the right words to
say.
Her heavenly body with gravity so strong,
consuming my atmosphere in the dead of night and brightest
day.
She sings to me in every song,
yet we are two pieces of the puzzle that don’t belong.
Face these fears or let die these emotions, I must
pray and hope that this time, I’m wrong.
Is it love or is it lust?
That my mind obsesses over her from dawn to dusk.
I kissed her once and now I cannot forget,
the rush of her lips, brush of her hair - my heart, I do not
trust.
With a fierce passion, I would dive in with no regrets.
Foolish and unreasoning, but my heart is set.
Take a chance like a game of Russian roulette.
What I deserve is what I bet.
I wish you knew this was written for you, but you will never.
